Hiking Trails
With five hiking trails to choose from, the hiker staying at Jamaka will be spoilt for choice. The River and Upper-River trails run along the lush edges of the Rondegat River. For a slightly more challenging hike you may choose from either the Rooiberg or Wolfberg trails respectively. Finally the Geelhoutskloof trail offers a bit of both as it follows a small stream receding into the valley from its source up in the mountains.
Swimming
Each of the two camping grounds has its own rock pool which forms pat of the Rondegat river. It’s a chance to swim in clear, fresh water along with the river’s indigenous fish species. One of the pools feature a cable slide for the more adventurous of heart. Many of the campsites also have their own, smaller pools - usually great for the kids!
Donkey Cart
During the busy holiday seasons a donkey cart ride is a available to campers at a nominal fee. This is a great chance to tour the organic farm by cart! The cart is drawn by two mules and an experienced coachman from the area. While usually a hit with the younger crowd, it can be a lot of fun for anyone - regardless of age. The trips are usually only a few minutes long and are placidly paced.
Volleyball
A volleyball net located next to one of the rock pools usually offers great fun when two teams are pitched against each other. With pro’s and amateurs all in the mix, volleyball at Jamaka is rarely a dull event. Being situated next to the pool means that a quick dip at half time gives players a time to catch a breath while cooling off for the next round. Please note that the court is only erected during summery months.
